Palinero

This is the country which contains all of the towns and sectors in the game.

Porto-Torro
Residential
District

This is the business district of Porto-Torro: the commercial bank (with an ATM and a vault), Iglecia Centra Christiana church, where nearly the entire community congregates every Sunday, the central hospital, where one can always count on qualified medical assistance, and - most importantly - the Vito Juribi gift shop, a must-visit. The large building in the center is the State University of Palinero, defunct since the start of war as students were seen as an assemblage of dangerous free-thinkers. It is now the home of the homeless.

Porto-Torro
Customs
Office

This is the central district of the coastal town of Porto-Torro. All the goods arriving in Palinero by sea would first be delivered here, to customs then spend a lot of time in storage... since the town's most frequented place, simply called Porto-Torro Pub is located right accross from the main customs terminal. The residence and office of the mayor is also located in this neighborhood. A small jail found its home in the northern outskirts. This is a neat quiet town, or as much as it is possible in Palinero.

Oil Field

The oil field is a source of prosperity for he who controls it. But as of today, oil exports from Palinero are embargoed, and the use of it is minimal. Nonetheless, in hopes for better times that are yet to come, the rig and the field are kept in good condition. The manager's office is the small building south of the storage tanks.

Manza

Once a prosperous industrial town, Manza, was completely razed during the first days of the conflict. Then, as the front moved westwards, the place became the capital and Santa-Rosa. Today Manza is a godforsaken suburb not even worthy of a permanent garrison.

Del-Plata
Downtown

Del-Plata is a small industrial town founded by the Trujillo family to support the weapons plant. The current mayor - already the fourth Trujillo - although normally reporting to the NDF, tries to remain independent from any of the sides involved in the conflict. He sells his products to whoever is prepared to pay. His cheap weapons are wanted badly by both the Government and the rebellious general's Army. The Armas gun store has a wide selection of locally made military products.

Del-Plata
Plant

The old weapons plant in Del-Plata is one of Palinero's most protected facilities. Although presently it barely runs at one quartr of its nominal capacity, it is more than sufficient to replenish the arms depots of all the sides involved in the conflict. Both the government and the rebellious General dream about taking over the weapon-making plant, however the mayor of Del-Plata, whose political views and preferences change mysteriously depending on the proximity of either of the combating armies, manages to profit off the conflict while retaining his independence.

Rio-Loma
Gas Station

The outskirts of Rio-Loma. Here at the intersection of the Cali-Cantinos road stands the gas station and the old trucker motel. Rumor has it, that a lot of Palinery big shots would often stay here incognito.

Rio-Loma
Downtown

This is the central quarter of Rio-Loma, a small locality at the road intersection. The locals consider the place a town, elect their own mayor, and think of themselves as independent. In reality though, without financial support from the mob, the place would have long ceased to exist. Aside from the mayor's villa this district also hosts Vincent Armando's "Best Guns' store - check it out...

Cali-Cantinos
Old Town

Cali-Cantinos is one of the oldest towns in Palinero, a place with a long histry. It was originally founded by settlers who fled from the north across the mountains. The ridge pass is still there and serves the smuggler mob well with a never-ending flow of illegal goods. At present, the mob is such a strong force that neither the war-ridden government, nor the rebellious general, have the guts to try and take over Cali-Cantinos and its outskirts. The so called Old City is the heart of Cali-Cantinos, and houses the residences of the most influential traders, the Ilgecia de Dios Cathedral and the only hospital for miles and miles. The Cantinos Cash & Carry store, run by Chitana Vargez, is known for its large selection of rare weapons, while the Salon Bandidos bar is the favorite hangout of cutthroats from all over Palinero.

Cali-Cantinos
Depot

The smuggler mob is so self-confident, that they even keep an entire open storage of illegal goods here. And, if back in the day all the illegal goods were shipped accross the mountain pass, today a good deal of the goods are being flown by small planes. Be careful, seeming carelessness aside, the mob will hardly forgive anyone who tries to steal something from their storage facility.

Horta

The name Horta originates from the family name of the filthy rich Count Ottomar Rudolf Vlad Horta. He came to Palinero from Romania, bought large estates between San-Miguel and Cali-Cantinos and build a castle for himself there, which reminded him in many ways of ancient Walachian and Transylvanian fortresses. After the revolution the NDF government nationalized all of the count's lands, ordered the arrest of the old count for lending assistance to the old regime. But Horta disappeared, and the NDF police was left with nothing else to do but seal the castle and leave. Government people on numerous occassions have tried to use the castle for their own needs, but the officials sent here would always disappear under mysterious circumstances, earning the castle the reputation of being haunted.

Las Pentaras

Las Panteras is one of the main military bases of the NDF forces. Aside from training the troops for war against the rebeles, Las Panteras is also the air defense and radio interception center. The loss of this facility would be a hard blow to the NDF.

El-Torro

El-Torro is the recently built military officer and elite special force training center of the NDF Army. The loss of this strategically important facility will badly affect the defense of the country.

San-Miguel
The
Residence

This respectable district is the heart of the city. This is where the well-guarded residence of the NDF President is located, as well as a flock of various governmental offices, including the Palinero Department of the Interior (also the city prison). The Government and the President are also in need of people who are scared of hard and responsible work. They are ready to pay generously in exchange for loyal service for the benefit of Palinero, so just go straight to the residences - you won't be asked for ID.

San-Miguel
Downtown

This is the central district of San-Miguel the old capital of Palinero. Back in the day, the city park and El Centro cafe were the favourite hangouts for romantics on dates. The cafe that has since changed its name to Aida Alfredo's and mostly serves the NDF military, criminals, and mercenaries. The best fashion boutique has turned into a gun store, and the little cozy hotel has become a bordello. Only the church run by Father Pedro Cardona is ever ready to admit anyone in seek of sympathy... or indulgence.

San-Miguel
Power
Station

The old San-Miguel power station is a rather well-protected strategic facility. Its uninterrupted operation is critical not only for the capital itself, but to a certain extent to all the other populated localities of the country. Over the course of the conflict the rebels made a series of sabotage attempts against the station, but, fortunately enough, serious damage - if any - was only done to auxilary buldings.

San-Miguel
Banking
District

This is the residential district of the capital. The International Bank of Palinero - which has become the namesake of the entire district - is a state controlled office, mainly serving legal entities and specializing in international transactions. Another organization worthy of attention here is the small clinic, whose doctors will extract an aching tooth, cut out an appendix, or stich your wounds with equal aplomb.

Airport

The only surviving airport in Palinero. The small NDF aviation fleet is comprised of light aircraft expropriated from private owners before the start of the war. The presence of even this little aviation gives the government a full-on advantage over the ground forces of the rebellious general, enabling them to go on aerial recon missions and even an occasional bombardment. In addition to that, the airport is an important means of communication with the outside world.

Los Tigras

Los Tigras is the main training camp of the government forces. The flow of recruits from the capital, Tarentino, Horta, and Del-Plata and other NDF-controlled localities is non-stop. After a brief training program all of them are sent straight to the south to suppress the rebels.

Tarentino
Downtown

Tarentino is a small insignificant town attached to a water pump station. The local mayor also runs the "Los Tres Cerditos" pub, known all over Palinero for its specialty - a huge pie shaped like three huts, each of which houses a small roaster. The war has seriously impacted the tourist business so today they eat fewer roasters in Tarentino then back in the old days.

Tarentino
Water
Pump

The Tarentino water treatment facility is located practically right on the frontline and often changes hosts, and despite this, keeps operating without shutdowns. This is thanks to the efforts of the station manager, Mrs. Lora Alanez, who makes even the most violent thugs shiver in terror, stripping them of any wish to so much as look in the direction of the station equipment, let alone touch it.

Outpost

This road block is the first outpost of the rebellious General Tormens' defensive line. It overlooks the only road to Santa-Rosa - the center of the anti-NDF resistance. Breaking the defense of the General who fortified himself in the area is no easy matter, and more than one governmental detachment has been stopped here by the guerrillas.

Santa-Rosa
Ranch

Before becoming the center of the rebellion, Santa-Rosa used to be a small agriculture settlement. After the revolution, the ex-farmers took their weapons and joined the forces of General Tormens. This, naturally, has lead to the decline of agricultre. All cows and pigs were eaten long ago, but it was not enough to break the proud spirit of Santa-Rosians. They are strong and ruthless in their struggle against the regime of the NDF. The "Santa Rosa Bar & Grill" helps to relieve the tiresome routine of the everyday life.

Santa-Rosa
Military
Camp

This small military encampment on the outskirts of Santa-Rosa is in fact a modified US military base that had been mothballed and left for a better day. Now it acts as the main rebel base where sons of farmers take up weapons and become men, and the girls from the neighboring villages become women. Aside from the military equipment, the Americans left behind a good hospital, where any resident can receive qualified veterinary aid.

Santa-Rosa
General's
Residence

General Tormens - the son of a respected Santa-Rosian farmer - chose a military career over the hardships of a rich estate-owner, but even as a general he still remained close to the simple folk. The people love him, and he pays them back in kind, spending a lot of time with their children in his garden or organizing merry parties for the small townsfolk at his huge villa. This is why, when Tormens exposed the cunning plans of the NDF and started a rebellion, his fellow citizens joined him as one. Near the general's villa are several other important buildings - the "S.R. Store" sells multi-caliber goods and the Santa-Rosa bank, holds the peoples' earning in the name of the revolution.
